About ACASAI
ACASAI ( After-school Study Assistance Initiative ) Is an NPO that employs retired teachers and university students as volunteers, to assist both high school (grades 8-11) and primary school learners (Grades 4-7) with their schoolwork in the afternoons, assisting with all subjects covered in the CAPS curriculum. We assist learners with homework, projects, revision, reading skills and effectively applying study methods to reach their full potential, in a safer environment. Our operational hours are from 3 pm – 5 pm Mondays – Thursdays and 1 pm – 3 pm on Fridays, from the Parow Library hall, c/oMcIntyre Street, and 1st Avenue, Parow.
ACASAI was registered as an NPO on theĀ September 2020. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the organization was dormant until June 2022, from when we became actively involved in the Parow community. Due to the financial difficulties experienced by our community, these services are offered for free to learners.
These services are offered for free to learners by motivated retired teachers and we would also like to recruit university students as mentors to assist learners with their schoolwork. By recruiting university students, we’ll both be closing the gap towards mentorship, while providing a platform for university students to gain working experience whilst they are studying, making them more appealing for recruitment in the corporate world.
Our documentation for tax exemption and PBO status, is currently with the SOUTH AFRICAN REVENUE SERVICE, for approval.
